ST. PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM. Participation results.
On June 3, Sergey Kotlyarenko took part in the session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum “Formation of a circular economy in Russia. How will the environmental agenda change production and consumption? “. The participants of the discussion came to the conclusion that Russians, especially the younger generation, not only actively advocate for a change of the waste management system, but are already сontributing to the creation of a new system. But in order to implement the necessary reforms, it is of vital importance to solve a number of problems. So, without regulation, binding instructions from the state and even greater digitalization of the industry, the system, according to experts, cannot be built.
Sergey Kotlyarenko spoke at the session as a representative of the municipal solid waste management company JSC Citymatic. He expressed an opinion that it is important to expand the state order for ecological products: “Operators often have the opportunity to produce ecological products, but they need a sales market.” Speaking about measures to support the industry (by the Russian environmental operator), Sergey noted that Citymatic JSC is interested in a certain tightening of measures in the field of waste management, in particular, concerning digitalization. “The goals set for the industry players can be achieved only if an electronic digital tracking system of the entire chain (from the waste generation to its sorting, utilization, disposal) will be created. Only a transparent, conscientious and rather big business can afford it. In this part we understand that these are additional requirements for us, but we still stand for it, “he stressed.
